Extrusion Coated Composite Film

1 Overview

Extrusion coating composite film is to melt thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene and polypropylene through extrusion, flow out from the T-shaped head evenly, and continuously coat on the substrate such as biaxially oriented polypropylene, and pass through rubber rollers and cooling. The roller is pressurized and cooled to make a composite film with two or more layers, such as BOPP (printing)/PE composite film. At this time, considering the adhesion between the substrate surface and the molten resin, a layer of primer is also applied to improve the bonding strength. The composite film combines the properties of various substrates and plastics, and can be used according to the requirements of commodity packaging. Choose the appropriate substrate and resin, such as cellophane, which has good printing properties, high gas barrier properties, good fragrance retention, excellent stiffness, no static electricity, high transparency, but poor moisture resistance and no heat sealability; while polyethylene has good moisture resistance , heat-sealable, the compounded film absorbs the advantages of both, good gas barrier property, good moisture resistance, good mechanical properties, firmness, and fragrance retention

Extrusion coating composite film has fast production speed and uncomplicated production process; compared with dry method, it has low cost and product use is suitable for various product packaging.

For extrusion coating compounding that does not require high precision of extrusion compounding, such as composite packaging woven bags, paper, cloth, metal foil, synthetic material substrates OPP, OPET, etc., my country can manufacture it by itself. The equipment with high precision requirements is mostly imported from abroad.

The types of extrusion-coated composite films currently produced in China are mainly two-layer, such as paper/PE, PET, PE, AL/PE, AL-VM-PET/PE; multi-layer extrusion-coated composite films have PET/PE/EVA, PET/PE/AL/PE are used for packaging products with high requirements for fragrance retention; PE/paper/AL/IO/PE are used as aseptic filling beverage materials and have the characteristics of being able to be preserved at room temperature.
